We are seeking a motivated, results-, and team-oriented Senior Engineering Manager, Space Wheels Systems & Products. You will drive our vision and support the Space Wheels product line in our Heidelberg facility. In this position you will manage a team of intermediate and experienced professionals in the development of Space Wheels Systems & Products (System Configuration, Analog & Digital Hardware, Mechanical parts and Test Systems). Your team is dedicated to applying scientific principles to innovate, design, develop, and implement technologies and processes. At the same time, you take the responsibility to ensure compliance to customer requirements across several applicable operating conditions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As Senior Engineering Manager, Space Wheels Systems & Products, you
provide leadership and technical direction for engineering activities and participate in team's technical activities to coach, support, and influence your team.
drive forward the product development.
take responsibility for success in planned milestones and activities of your team in regard of budget, schedule and performance.
you contribute directly to department strategy to ensure that the organization's immediate and long-term goals are achieved.
oversee and participate in the development of engineering bids to ensure success.
actively address each employee's performance, support career development needs, identify skill gaps for current and future needs, develop gap closure plans.
develop a positive and trustful working relationship with our international colleagues and are committed to travel occasionally across our different locations.
continuously develop improvements in methods, tools, process definitions and design strategies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Master degree in Electronics or Mechatronic and 8 years of relevant experience or advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience or experience in a comparable role
German or EU citizenship required
Written and spoken business and technical English language skills at B2+ level or above
Strong organizational skills (especially regarding resource and project management)
Strong leadership skills of at least 5 years
Enthusiasm for analyzing and solving problems
Communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Experience / Qualifications
Experience with product design and development life cycle, including requirement capture, detailed design, and verification activities focused on complex electronic & mechanical systems
Engineering management experience in a project / program environment
Experience with leadership responsibility for teams in a formal engineering manager role
Experience in mentoring teams and projects
Experience in working within a formal engineering process-driven environment
Experience with standards related to space wheels (e.g. ECSS, ESA requirements)
Written and spoken business and technical German language skills
